The Haunted House Sudoku Challenge
On Halloween night, five brave puzzle solvers followed a moonlit path to an old haunted house. The windows glowed, bats circled above the roof, and friendly ghosts peeked out from behind the pumpkins.
At the front door, they found five mysterious Sudoku puzzles.
A tiny ghost whispered, “These are the hardest puzzles in the house. Solve them all, and the door will open.”
The friends studied each grid carefully. Some rows had only a few clues, and several squares looked impossible at first. They checked every row, every column, and each little box before writing a number.

Whenever someone made a mistake, they erased it and tried again.
One puzzle was solved. Then another. Slowly, the empty squares disappeared.
When the fifth Sudoku was complete, the old house rumbled and the front door creaked open. Inside, the friends discovered a room filled with glowing pumpkins, Halloween decorations, and a table covered with treats.
A note on the wall read:
“The best puzzle solvers are the ones who keep thinking, even when the answer is hard to find.”
And from that Halloween on, the haunted house became their favorite place for spooky puzzles and midnight adventures.
How to Solve the Hard Halloween Sudoku
Download and print the worksheets on A4 paper. Fill in the empty squares using the numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4. Each number must appear only once in every row, every column, and each 2×2 box.
These puzzles have fewer clues, so look carefully before placing each number. Start with the rows, columns, or boxes that already contain the most numbers, then work step by step.
Use a pencil so you can easily erase mistakes, and keep going until every square is filled correctly.
